A wallet or an exchange account your organization controls. The Accounts page lists them in Own accounts. See Add a wallet.
Contact
An address you named that belongs to someone else, such as a supplier or a customer. The Accounts page lists them in Contacts.
Unidentified address
An address that sent assets to your accounts or received them from your accounts, and that you have not named yet. The Accounts page lists them in Unidentified, where you add each one as an own account or as a contact.
Platform
Where an asset lives: a blockchain or an exchange.
Blockchain
A public network, such as Ethereum or Solana. A wallet holds assets on a blockchain, and the blockchain records each transaction.
Exchange
A company that holds assets for you, such as Kraken. Conta Finance reads your exchange account with a read-only key. See Connect an exchange.
Tag
A free label you put on accounts and contacts. Use it to find and filter them as a group.
Native coin
The coin a blockchain pays its fees in, such as ETH on Ethereum. It has no contract address.
Genesis allocation
Coins a Cosmos blockchain gave to an account on its first day, with no transaction. The history of the account does not show them. See Cosmos genesis balance.
One on-chain transaction or one exchange operation. It holds one or more movements.
Movement
One asset going into or out of one of your accounts. A transaction has one movement per account and asset. See Transactions and movements.
Category
The accounting label of a movement, such as Purchase or Fee. The cost basis reads it, and it decides the account in QuickBooks. A movement with no category is Unclassified.
Subcategory
A second, free label for your own analysis. It changes no figure.
Rule
A set of conditions. Each movement that matches gets the category or the subcategory of the rule, automatically. See Create a rule and How classification works.
Rollup
A rule that groups many movements into one entry per window of time, such as one entry per month. Use it for many small movements, such as network fees, so the accounting system gets one line instead of hundreds.
Internal transfer
An asset moving between two of your accounts. It is not a disposal, so no lot is consumed. The Internal transfer category marks the transfers Conta Finance cannot see by itself. See Internal transfers.
Potential bridge
Two movements on two platforms that Conta Finance thinks are one transfer. The pair is a guess, so a person must confirm it. See Potential bridges.
Transaction link
A group of movements from different transactions that share one category. The link sets the category by hand on all of them at once. See Link transactions.
Method ID
The code of the contract function a transaction called. Rules and rollups can match on it.
Journal entry
The record of a transaction in the accounting system: a debit and a credit for each movement. A rollup sends one entry for all the transactions it groups. See Check an entry before sending.
One acquisition of an asset: how much came in, when, and at what cost.
Disposal
An asset leaving your portfolio, by a sale, a swap or a payment. It consumes lots. A transfer between two of your accounts is not a disposal.
Cost basis
What you paid for the assets you hold or disposed of. The method (FIFO, LIFO or Average cost) decides which lots a disposal consumes. See Cost basis methods.
Realized
The gain or loss fixed by a disposal: what you received minus the cost of the lots it consumed.
Unrealized
The gain or loss on what you still hold: market value minus cost basis. It is on paper only.
Fiscal year
The twelve months your books close on. You set the month and the day it starts in Organization settings.
Saved report
A copy of the gains and losses figures, stored under a name. Nothing calculates it again, so it never changes. See Saved reports.
One coin, such as USDC, with each platform it lives on, such as Ethereum and Base. Its platforms share one price, one symbol and one name. Each platform keeps its own balances. See Tokens on several platforms.
Primary platform
The first platform of a token you add by hand. Only the primary is priced, and the other platforms share its price. You can change it in Edit token.
Stale price
A latest price that is more than one day old. Conta Finance does not use it as the current price, so the market value of the token is not computed. See Prices and exchange rates.
Reporting currency
The currency of every balance, valuation and report: USD, EUR or GBP. You choose it in Organization settings.
The value of everything your organization holds: the account holdings plus the DeFi positions. A value that is in both counts once. See The Portfolio page.
Position
An asset your account put to work in a protocol: staked, supplied, added to a pool or locked. Positions are for display only. They never change the books. See The Positions page.
The daily check that the balance in your books matches the balance on the platform, for each account and each token. See The Reconciliation page.
Mismatch
A difference between the balance in your books and the balance on the platform. A difference smaller than the reconciliation tolerance is not a mismatch. See Fix a balance mismatch.
Tolerance
The amount in USD under which a balance difference counts as reconciled. The default is $0.10. You set it in Organization settings.
Rebase
A change in the balance of a token with no transaction: the token grows on its own. Reconciliation shows it as a Rebase difference, which is expected.
Work that takes minutes, such as reading the full history of a new account. A notice at the top of every page shows it while it runs. See Background tasks.
One company with its own books. Each organization has its own address, such as acme.conta.finance, and its own data. Nothing is shared between two organizations.
Team
A group of people who work on a set of organizations together. A team can be the finance team of a company or an accounting firm. A team owns organizations, and it can get access to organizations of other teams.
An email link that lets a person join a team, with a role and an access. It works for 7 days. See Invite a user.
Session
The sign-in of one browser. It ends after 12 hours with no use, or 30 days after the sign-in. See Sessions and signing out.
AI client
A program with a language model of its own, such as Claude or ChatGPT, that you connect to an organization. It reads the books with your access, and it prepares changes that you confirm. See Connect an AI client (MCP).
MCP
Model Context Protocol: the standard an AI client uses to connect to Conta Finance.
Recovery code
A code that signs you in once, if you lose access to your authenticator app. You get 10 when you turn on two-factor authentication. See Turn on two-factor authentication.
The access levels, from highest to lowest:
Access level
What the person can do in the organization
Full access
Everything in Read and edit. The person can also change the reporting currency, the cost basis method and the fiscal year, change the name and the logo of the organization, and share it with other teams.
Read and edit
Read all the data, and change the accounting data and the preferences, except the reporting currency, the cost basis method and the fiscal year.
Read only
Read all the data. The person cannot change anything.
No access
The organization does not open, and it does not show in the list.
