Rollups

Group many small, repeated transactions into one row per period, to read the ledger and to post one entry to the ERP.

A rollupA rule that groups many small movements, such as fees, into one entry per period for the accounting system. groups many movements into one entry for each period. Use it for many small transactions that repeat, such as the fees of a bot or the claims of a reward contract. A rollup changes two things: how the Transactions page shows those movements, and what goes to the ERP. It changes no cost basis figure.

How a rollup chooses its movements

A rollup rule matches on the method a transaction called: the contract function, as a method ID. It takes every movement of a matching transaction, gas included, not only part of it. So a transaction is never split between a rollup and its own row.

A rollup rule has only two conditions:

  • Method IDs: one or more methods. Any one of them is enough.
  • Platforms: the platforms to limit it to. Every platform groups the same method wherever it runs.

Create a rollup

  1. Open Rules in the sidebar and select the Rollups tab.
  2. Select New rollup.
  3. In Rule name, type a name for the rule.
  4. In Rollup name, type the name the grouped row shows, for example "Gas dust".
  5. In Group by, pick the period.
  6. Under Method IDs, type or pick a method. Select Add another method for more.
  7. Optionally, in Platforms, tick the platforms to keep.
  8. Read the preview, then select Create rule.

The method list suggests the methods found in your ledger. To find the method of a transaction, read the method on its row on the Transactions page.

Group by

OptionOne row for
All timeEvery movement the rule matches, whenever it happened.
By yearEach calendar year.
By monthEach calendar month. This is the default.
By weekEach week, Monday to Sunday.
By dayEach UTC day.
By hourEach UTC hour.

All periods are in UTC. One rule makes one rollup for each period: a rule by month makes one row for March and one for April.

Which rollup wins

Rollup rules run in the order of the Rollups tab, like other rules, and the first one that matches takes the transaction. A new rollup runs last. To change where it runs, move it in the list. See The Rules page. Category and subcategory rules take no part. A movement in a rollup keeps the category and the subcategory its other rules gave it.

How a rollup shows in Transactions

A rollup is one row on the Transactions page. The row reads Rollup and the name, with the period under it, for example "on June 2026", and the number of movements. When the movements come from more than one blockchain, hold the pointer on the number to see how many.

  • Net value and category come from its movements, like any row.
  • Expand the row to see each movement.
  • A rollup row has no hash, no explorer link, no review mark, no comments and no details window. It is not one transaction.
  • When the organization has an ERP company, the ERP mark shows on the rollup row, because the rollup is one document there.

See The Transactions page.

How a rollup posts to the ERP

A rollup is one journal entryThe record of a transaction in the accounting system: a debit and a credit for each movement. in the ERP. It replaces the entries of the transactions it groups, so no movement posts twice.

  • It adds the exact values of its movements, then rounds once. One line goes to each side, account and category.
  • A fee worth less than a cent rounds to 0.00 alone. In a rollup, many of them add up to a real amount.
  • Minimum value to sync applies to the total of the rollup.
  • Its date is the last day with activity in the period.

Rollups do not show on the Debug tab of the ERP page. Read them on the Sync tab. See Send to the ERP and Map categories to QuickBooks accounts.

No effect on cost basis

Cost basis and P&L never read rollups. Every movement in a rollup stays its own acquisition or its own disposalAn asset leaving your portfolio, by a sale, a swap or a payment. It consumes lots., with its own price. A rollup only changes how the movements are drawn and posted.

A rollup that groups nothing

An older rollup can carry conditions that a rollup can no longer use. Its form then says that it groups nothing today. Add the method IDs to group by and save. That replaces the old conditions.
